Well, not really. I personally like the brand. However, I wonder what hardcore skaters and surfers are going to think when they realise that the STUSSY brand signature actually stands for “I’M GAY”. Don’t believe me? Check this out:
I heard this from a friend of mine, Tommy El, aka Mr Connected. It came from a good source of his, that the original owner of Stussy, Shawn Stussy, a Californian surfer is actually gay and is still finding it hard to ‘come out’ at 37 years old, due to family life. With a quote like “A couple of my buddies and I used to go to the Army-Navy surplus stores and buy size 40 khakis and cut them off way up at the knees. Everybody used to say, ‘Those are so fly!’–so we started making them,” I don’t doubt it! Then again, it could have been a laughing factor for Shawn and his buddies. I can just imagine them sitting on the beach after a surf, all talking coming up with ideas for this new brand.
Jeff: “Hey dude.”
Shawn: “Yeh, dude?”
Jeff: “Why don’t we call the t-shirts, I’M GAY?”
Shawn: “Shut up man. Stop paying me out. Just becasue I’m going to make millions. You’re jealous as.”
Jeff: “Na man. You wana work with ‘clothing’ – I’m calling you gay.”
*** 2 weeks later ***
Shawn: “Hey guys check out my first t-shirt!”
Jeff: “DUDE! That says I’M GAY!”
Shawn: “I know! hahahahaha”
***group laughter***
Are YOU walking around wearing a T-shirt that says I’M GAY on it ? ! ? !
